From our testing The Johanna is not insulated, but I had no problem getting hot temperatures despite that - suggesting the design is effectively funneling air up through the bin. A separate insulating jacket is available for winter use.

From our testing Nothing fancy, but it has three things going for it - its capacity, its adjustable size and its low price. You don't need a fancy bin to make compost, and I love the fact you can easily roll this up, put it away and just bring it out when you need it.
