What owners report

Compiled from owner reports gathered Aug 2026. Sources are stated in the text; we never use retail-site reviews.

We assessed the Urban Worm Bag (V2) based on 45 owner reports on Reddit, forums and blogs.

The Urban Worm bag is one of those products that has won a group of dedicated fans - you could almost call it the Apple of the worm farming world. We noted one user owns three bags and is buying three more, while another calls it “by far my favorite setup.”

One user did report having problems with the moisture, and it seems the bag may dry out faster than stacked systems, with one user giving up after 7 months. Other users found fixes - such as layering damp cardboard under a dry shredded-paper cap and wetting the top at each feed. Some users reported the occasional worms escaping from the bottom in the early days, but this was also solved with layers of cardboard.

The frame seems to be a weak point - stable against a wall, but less so when moved, with some users wishing it had a wheel. An older version also had issues with the bottom zipper seizing - this was acknowledged and fixed in version 2, but is something to be aware of if you are looking at buying an older second hand model.

Overall, most users report getting good results, with worms going from 500 to 5000 in a year and kilos of castings being harvested each month. However, the system does take time, with owners reporting taking their first harvest after 6 months.

The bag comes with an unbeatable lifetime warranty, although note this only applies if the bag is kept indoors. Customer service gets high praise, even from users who didn’t get on with the bag.
