We assessed the Miracle-Gro Dual Chamber Tumbler based on 12 owner reports across YouTube videos and comments, blog posts and forums spanning from 2019 to 2026. Note that the comments referred to different sizes although they function in the same manner.
The assembly of the device has been the dominant complaint, although after assembling multiple tumblers I can assure you this is a standard problem! Still, users complained about stiff snap panels needing 'elbow grease and hammer', assembly taking 1-3 hours instead of 30 minutes and a lack of instructions.
The larger model received great praise, with one owner saying 'actually amazing how much it breaks down... I'm happy I got it'. The snow was seen melting off the bin in winter due to the heat it was generating, no flies were attracted to it and it was ready in three months. (As always, I recommend ensuring compost is sufficiently matured before using it - I like a minimum of 6 months unless applying in autumn for spring planting.) One negative is that freezing temperatures could freeze the door shut.
There were some complaints about the smaller model due to the 6 inch ground clearance, which meant you couldn’t put a bucket below it, and there was no shovel access. The frame durability was mixed, with several owners saying they had used it for a year without issues while others reported that it felt cheap. The tumbler was easy to turn initially, but could be heavy when full.
Ultimately, some users recommended the device and would buy it again, while others said they wouldn't recommend it and one said they would switch to a square bin in the future.
